Animal fur and exotic skins will no longer appear in Chanel collections. The renowned French fashion house is the latest luxury brand to embrace the new trend, fur-free fashion. However, this trend will never go out of style.

More and more brands are realizing that animal abuse and cruelty is not fashionable. Other big name designers, like Gucci, Versace and Michael Kors have ditched fur this year and the public is praising them.

Every year, over a billion animals are killed for their pelts. Fur trade is a brutal industry full of suffering animals. The fur-free movement is a huge win for rabbits, foxes, minks, and many others. This is a huge step towards a more humane world.

A spokesperson for Chanel told CNN that the decision was made partly because “it is becoming increasingly difficult to source exotic skins that match our ethical standards,” adding that the ban will provide “an opportunity to create a new generation of high-end products.”

Consumers are looking to purchase items that are ethically sourced and give back, not take the life of a living animal. Brands are recognizing this and catering to those needs. Hopefully, this will soon be a standard for all designers.
