Man Transforms His Home Into An Indoor Kitty Paradise For His 22 Rescue Cats
For Peter Cohen, his 22 rescue cats aren’t just pets, they’re family. And that’s why he decided to transform his California home into an indoor paradise for them.
He started the project after buying his property in 1988, and has been adding to it ever since. It all started when he cared for two outdoor stray cats. Sadly, they were both hit by cars. This is when Cohen came up with the idea of making his home into an indoor playground so the cats will have a place to play and explore in a safe manner.
So far it includes an array of catwalks, tunnels, perches and ramps. As the years went on, Cohen adopted more and more cats from shelters to enjoy this kitty paradise. Today, 22 rescued cats get to live and play in his home.
The current resident cats are: CoffeeBean, Donut, Cheesecake, Chocolate and Poppyseed, Smudge, Nugget, Nutter Butter, Crumple, Rumple, Cookie Monster, Secret, Mikan, Climber, Blackbird, Jupiter Jones, Vanilla, Mango, The Professor, MiniBean and Smokey!
Cohen has turned his paradise and love for cats into a mission to help find a cure for cats with FIP, feline infectious peritonitis. Unfortunately, one of his cats passed away from the fatal disease, but he has used this to raise awareness and money to find a cure.
