This Cat Was Obsessed With Dog Videos, So Owners Surprised Him With A Real-Life Puppy Brother

Most cats love chasing mice and birds, but Harrie isn’t your regular feline. Instead of keeping his eyes peeled for such prey, the longhaired gray cat vastly prefers watching dog videos on TV.

The cat’s ongoing fixation with dogs – particularly golden retrievers — led his owner, Alyssa Lauren, the bring home a puppy to help keep Harrie entertained. The cat seemed fascinated to see the object of his long-time obsession up close and kept checking on the puppy, Baymax, to make sure he was real.

Harrie and Baymax have only grown closer as the puppy grows up. Alyssa’s Instagram page is filled with photos of the odd couple cuddling, playing, and napping together. She’s also created a video documenting how Baymax came to join their family, and the adorable clip (which you can watch below) quickly went viral.

Mostly, viewers across the social media landscape just can’t get over the close bond between this cat and his dog. Some viewers said “it seemed unreal” the dog and cat got along so well together. Others just couldn’t stop gushing about how cute they are together. Right now, these friendly pets are about the same size, although it’s just a matter of time before Baymax — being a golden retriever — becomes much larger than his favorite cat.

Of course, even fur siblings have the occasional squabble, but their owner explained that their close bond helps alleviate most misunderstandings. Baymax occasionally growls at Harrie, but the loving cat never gets offended. Harrie seems to understand that Baymax, being puppy and all, probably didn’t mean it.

You can check out their adorable friendship in the video below. Do your cats and dogs get along this well?
