Minaeva left Rexie with family members to babysit him while she was away. The people who were watching Rexie left him unattended with children who did not treat him so well. He wound up having a broken backbone and lost the ability to use his rear end.

Minaeva took Rexie to physical therapy, where he began rehabilitation and learning how to move using just his two front legs. With time, his muscles got stronger and he was able to acclimate to using just two legs. He was put in a wheel chair and now gets around just fine.

Although he can now walk with the help of his wheelchair, he is still unable to urinate on his own so his bladder has to be manually emptied.
