Here’s Why England’s Parasol Tree Is A Huge Hit With Cat Lovers

Americans like to go all out for Christmas, but as anyone who has seen National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation can attest, your holiday decor also holds an element of risk for house cats. Unlike dogs, who will dutifully hang out around the dining table or kitchen, felines will be instantly drawn by anything bright or shiny on the holiday tree, often at the expense of their own safety and to the detriment of your holiday decor.

Thankfully, one UK company, Argos, has invented a clever way for cat owners to partake in the annual cheer while ensuring their pets don’t get up to too much trouble. Literally.

The retail outlet’s 6 foot Half Parasol Christmas Tree is primarily trunk, which allows much more room for presents, fits well in small spaces, and also means your curious kitten (or your grandkids) can’t climb the branches.

Strange as it sounds, this non-traditional decor option is reportedly flying off of the shelves, so you’ll have to act fast if you want to incorporate such feline-friendly decor into your 2018 celebrations.

Regardless, the video below is a great reminder about why pet-owning households should remain vigilant this Christmas. Happy holidays!
