Two-Legged Dog Named Lieutenant Dan Is A Finalist To Become The Cadbury Bunny
It’s that time of year again. Cadbury is on the lookout for their next Cadbury Bunny. However, if you want to submit your pet you’ll have to wait till next year since the judges have already narrowed down the 10 finalists. It is looking like stiff competition since there is a pig who wears sunglasses, a photogenic duck, an adorable service dog, a llama, a miniature horse, and an unimpressed cat. But the one finalist who has been stealing hearts online: Lieutenant Dan.
This adorable pooch from Ohio is named for the iconic character from “Forrest Gump” who was played by Gary Sinise. Much like the character, this furry Lieutenant Dan was born with a birth defect that resulted in both his legs being amputated.
His owners told The Cincinnati Enquirer, “he has a joy for life that’s infectious and inspiring.”
It is clear to see this through his Instagram. On his page, his Cadbury Bunny post says, “Lieutenant Dan was born different, but hasn’t let that slow him down! He has a joy for life that is infectious and inspiring!”
There is just over a week left to vote. Once the contest is over, the lucky winner can expect to receive the grand prize of $5,000, plus the honor of being featured in a Cadbury’s commercial.
Ethan Mandel, associate brand manager for Cadbury, revealed to WLWT, “The Cadbury Clucking Bunny commercial has been a perennial Easter favorite for over 30 years. After last year’s newest edition, featuring Henri the bulldog, and the overwhelming positive feedback we’ve received, we decided to bring back the bunny tryouts.”
The winner is set to be announced later this month.
