‘Big Poppa’ The Bulldog Is Sad That He Can’t Play At The Park

We aren’t the only ones who are feeling the sting of self-isolation during this pandemic. Our pets are feeling it too. And most notably, we’ve seen this with the sad snapshot of a bulldog, which since posting, has gone viral.

It certainly is a picture that resonates with all of us at this time.

The picture is of Big Poppa, a bulldog who looks so disheartened and sad as he is seated on his patio – clearly dismayed at not being about to leave the house and play during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The post, which was shared to Instagram, was captioned, “All I want to do is play with the kids in my building but due to COVID-19 … I can’t. I just watch them from the patio. Flatten The Curve please.”

As the photo began to trend, there were so many users on social media who knew just what the dog was going through, with many commenting their sympathies for Big Poppa.

The WeRateDogs account on Twitter, said, “I will find a cure myself if it means seeing Big Poppa smile again.”

While author Roxane Gay, replied, “I am not a dog person but I have thought about Big Poppa all day.”

Even Maisie Williams got in on the Twitter feed, commenting, “not being dramatic but I would literally die for big poppa.”

Rae Elle, from Atlanta, Georgia, is Big Poppa’s owner. She posted the picture of him to social media as a way of giving others a look at the quarantine life according to dogs since she’d by accident bought him a tiny lounge bed.

As she wrote on Twitter after sharing a picture of him on the small bed, “I bought Poppa a new bed during lockdown. It arrived too small but he wouldn’t get out of it.”

Regarding the dog’s new followers, Big Poppa wrote on his Instagram that he “can’t wait” to be able to interact with people again once the stay-at-home orders are lifted.

The Instagram caption read, “Hi Instagram. Thanks for the love, I’ve never thought I would have so many new friends. I can’t wait to meet some of you after Quarantine. Xoxo Big Poppa.”

Hang in there, Big Poppa. We all know exactly what you’re going through.
