A 5-Year-Old Got ‘Married’ To His Senior Dog And It Was Adorable
I think that all of us would agree that having a dog in our life is very important. Robin Lipe also recognizes that having a dog in the life of her children has been important as well. They have formed a very special bond, which is why she wasn’t surprised when one of her children asked to marry one of the family dogs.
“Jack, he’s our middle child and we have always said since he was born that he has the sweetest soul. Little things like this just prove it,” Lipe said.
Jack came to his mother with the idea to marry Skyler and she thought that she would just let it slide, but he had the perfect reason to do it.
“I can’t wait to marry her until I’m a grown-up because she won’t be alive anymore,” he told his mom, according to PEOPLE.
The Skyler that we are talking about is a Labrador retriever mix. Robin and Scott, her husband, had gotten married a decade ago and rescued the dog shortly after.
Jack said: “She’s just so fluffy and I love to lay around with her. If you put your face close to her she licks you. I love her to infinity!”
The family lives in Charlotte, North Carolina and Jack had told his mother that he wanted a sunny day for a wedding in the backyard.
“I thought the whole thing was a little weird, but when he woke up on Saturday and said ‘Okay mom, it’s sunny out,’ and we weren’t doing anything because of the pandemic so I thought, ‘Why not?'” Lipe said. “I put on a dress for the first time in two and a half months and got his little blazer out of the closet for him to wear.”
To celebrate this special day, Jack dressed up by wearing his shorts backward, putting on rain boots, and held some fresh flowers that his mother had picked from the front yard. He even had a stick for Skyler to hold.
According to Jack, “I just wanted to look cute.”
The wedding march was played on Robin’s phone and the little boy walked down the aisle in the backyard with his beloved dog. Also attending the wedding where his father, younger sister, and Birdie, a 20-month-old dog.
“I thought Birdie would be a bridesmaid, but she was eating chalk at the time and didn’t seem interested,” Lipe shared while laughing.
Hunter, Jack’s older brother, was not interested in the ceremony. The seven-year-old said: “You can’t marry your sister!”
“The last few months have been so hard. He hasn’t been able to see his friends or play soccer, go to school, play on the playground so if he wants to marry the dog, it’s silly but it makes us happy,” the mom of three said.
