Are waterless shampoos effective to use on dogs?FamilyPet
While it’s still necessary to give your dog a bath regularly to cleanse the coat and keep your dog’s skin clean and nourished, many dog owners use waterless shampoo in between full baths. Waterless shampoo is a dog cleaner that can be used to spot treat a dirty area on a dog’s coat, or give him a complete dusting with the shampoo for an all over waterless bath.
There are definitely some pros and cons to using waterless shampoo. The pros of waterless shampoo are that it can deodorize and mask any pet odors. It is convenient to use, is pH balanced for a dog’s skin, and is safe to use on any type of dog over 6 weeks of age.
The cons of using waterless shampoo are that it can be just as messy as a regular bath when you sprinkle the shampoo powder all over your dog and rub it in. Additionally, the powder can sit on top of your dog’s coat rather than penetrate down to the skin, and the smell might not last as long as it would with a traditional shampoo.
