Ajax the puppy was just five and a half weeks old when he was adopted by his new mom, Avery Welch, a vet technician in Connecticut. He weighed just two and a half pounds and was part of an accidental litter of pit bull puppies.
As happy as Ajax was, there were many issues with his health that his new mom soon discovered. He had hip dysplasia in both hips and bad knee issues. Eventually, he might need to have his back legs removed, but for now he is just on pain medication.
Despite what he’s been going through, Ajax is a very happy dog and is extremely affectionate. He is also a service dog for his mom to help her cope with anxiety and depression. Ajax has a passion for helping others, and is the perfect pup to make people feel better. But people aren’t the only ones that he helps!
When Welch brought home a little kitten, Ajax was right there to help. The kitten, named Mr. Magoo, was found on a sidewalk in New York City when he was only a few weeks old. Welch took him in as a foster, and eventually wound up adopting him.
