This Woman Seeks Out Shelter Dogs And Does Something INGENIOUS With Them.

The PAWS shelter in Lynnwood is filled with countless dogs. But K-9 trainer Melissa Larsen chooses the best suited ones to become police dogs! She looks for dogs with a profound sense of smell and a hunting extinct, dogs that are extremely focused, yet trainable.

“You know there’s plenty of hunting breeds out there that are discarded in the shelters, and it’s usually because they are too active and too high strung and too obsessive, which is exactly what I like,” Larsen told USA Today.

Larsen doesn’t various different exercises to choose the right dogs and then takes them for a few days to test their environmental fear of false floors, loud noises and other distractions. If the dog is confident, then the training begins. Watch the full video about the program below!
