Anneliessa Balk was not a stranger to rescuing animals. In fact, she moved to Nashville, Tennessee, to make it easier to rescue them.

She already had two rescue dogs, Nera and Patch, but Patch sadly passed away shortly after she moved. Then she rescued another dog, named Fred, off the streets, but her family still wasn’t complete.

Balk heard about a dog on Facebook who had been living near a housing project and needed a foster home. She agreed to take the dog, named Willow, in. The next day, she was driving home when she saw a tiny black ball of fur on the side of the road. She pulled over to see what it was and discovered a kitten. She took the kitten in and named her TK, short for Tiny Kitten.

Aside from keeping TK, Balk also decided to permanently adopt her foster dog, Willow. With several dogs at home, Balk had no idea how TK would fit in. She was very nervous, but once she introduced them all, she knew everything would be okay. Their first meeting went well and they all loved each other!

Balk now refers to her rescue crew as “The Naughty Dog Brigade + TK,” and they have all become the best of friends. TK loves being around her dog siblings and is always cuddling and playing with them. She’s definitely one of the dogs!
