This Pelican May Have Lost His Flock But He Gained A Friend!

This pelican lost his flock during a storm and was left to fend for himself. Fortunately, he was rescued by a kind human who took him under his wing. The pelican, later deemed “Bigbird,” was wondering ashore, unable to fly. Eventually he was found and rescued by Jeff Condon, who runs a safari camp on the shores of Lake Tanganyika in Tanzania.

Condon helped teach Bigbird how to fly, by running down the beach with his arms out. Although he now knew how, he had no intention of leaving. He stuck around, and was then taught how to fish. Condon took him out every day on his kayak and went through the motions with Bigbird on how to catch fish. He also taught him how to swim and dive. This story is simply amazing, and I’m so glad there are kind-hearted people like Condon out there. If it weren’t for him, Bigbird never would have survived alone!
