Dog Was Stolen From Family’s Backyard. A Year Later, They Saw Him On The News With A Gunshot Wound

Tank the dog was stolen from his family’s San Antoinio backyard about a year ago. The family was absolutely devastated, but never gave up on looking for him.

Mr. Calderon bought Tank and another dog before he passed away about a year and a half ago, so losing this pup was heartbreaking for this family.

Then last week, something happened that they never expected. They were watching television, when all of a sudden they saw a video on KSAT News of a dog who was recovering from a gunshot wound. They knew right away that it was their beloved pooch.

“I jumped up from the couch and was like, that’s Tank! That’s him!” Michelle Calderon told KSAT News. “My son was really, really attached to Tank. So to hear what he went through and to see him like that it was very emotional.”

Her son, Josh, instantly started crying when he saw him.

Sadly, Tank had been shot in the chest, but miraculously survived. He had been at The Animal Defense League getting taken care of.

Michelle had to prove that the wounded dog was in fact hers, and that she had nothing to do with what happened. She sent in pictures of Tank as a puppy and as an adult and was finally able to reunite with him and bring him home.

She is now paranoid about him being stolen again, but is taking precautionary measures to keep him safe. Tank is still recovering, but he is doing great! The Calderon family is very thankful to have their furry best friend back.

Animal Care Services is still investigating on who stole and shot Tank. If you have any information, please call 210-207-4738.
