This Adorable 16-Year-Old Sea Otter Learned To Play Basketball For One Amazing Reason!Ashley Maisano
This cute southern sea otter, named Eddie, was rescued off the California coast when he was unable to survive in the wild on his own. He was eventually brought to Oregon Zoo in 2000 and has been there ever since. The life span of a sea otter is usually between 15 and 20 years old, so at 16, Eddie is considered geriatric. Because of his age, they decided to get x-rays done and discovered that he has arthritis in his elbows.
The relieve the arthritis, it’s best for Eddie to work his joints and keep them moving. And what’s a better way than playing basketball? They began to train Eddie to dunk balls in a hoop and he learned very quickly. Now he’s a pro! He sims around with the ball, jumps up and reaches his arms up to get the ball in the hoop. He rarely ever misses, but when he does, he’ll keep trying until he gets it in. Watch this adorable little guy go! He’s amazing!
