Stray Dog Who Resorted To Eating Plastic Gets Life-Saving Surgery

One puppy is thankful for her new owners after they rescued her from an inevitable death. Cameron Trammell and his girlfriend were leaving their apartment heading to a busy day of errands. However, that all quickly changed when they spotted a small dog laying in the grass. As they approached, they discovered how weak and emaciated the small dog was and knew they had to help.

They brought the puppy food and water, but the dog showed no interest. In fact, it seemed too tired to do anything. Trammell took the puppy into the apartment to bathe it and treat it for fleas. The dog began to trust its rescuers after a nice bath.

As she snuggled up to them for a nap, they realized how skinny and unhealthy she was. Despite their constant care, the dog, named “Little One,” would only eat a little bit before throwing up. Trammell knew something was wrong and took the dog to the veterinary clinic.

A simple x-ray discovered the serious problem. Little One’s intestines were blocked by pieces of plastic and garbage the dog had ate in an attempt to keep from starving to death. Trammell was given a tough decision. Allow the vet to operate and save the dog’s life? Of course, but the vet quoted the procedure would cost around $5000.

After debating their options, Trammell said they knew what they had to do.

“Well, let’s be honest. There was only one choice,” he wrote in an email to Little Things.. “Let’s do it! She deserves a chance. The surgery certainly isn’t in our budget, but there was absolutely NO way we were going to tell them to just put her down. A dog as sweet as this is more than worth it. We hadn’t planned on owning a dog, especially spending thousands of dollars on just a chance to own one, but we had to try.”

Little One survived the surgery and is making huge strides to a full recovery. The vet gave Trammell as much of a discount as possible, but the bill was still very expensive. As Little One’s story made its rounds, people wanted to help the dog’s owners, so the couple made a GoFundMe account in hopes of paying the bill. They were able to raise enough to pay for the procedure. Any extra donations will be given to the veterinarian office that helped saved Little One’s life.
