They Were About To Euthanize This Puppy Because Of Her Injuries. But Then, She Wagged Her Tail…Ashley Maisano
Eve was born a stray, lost her mother, and was hit by a car. The accident crushed her bones, shattering her pelvis, hip, and leg. No one was there to help her, so she spent days there in pain, waiting for someone to find her.
Animal control officers in Douglas County, Georgia, finally found the pit bull mix puppy, and decided that it’d be best to put her to sleep because of her suffering. But just as the veterinarian was going to euthanize her, Eve wagged her tail and gave kisses.
The vet called Jason Flatt, founder of Friends to the Forlorn Pitbull Rescue, and explained what had happened. Treating Eve would be costly, but Flatt didn’t hesitate to help. He brought Eve to vet Clay Leathers at New Hope Animal Hospital, who thought it’d be best for her to be brought to the state-of-the-art facilities at BluePearl Veterinary Partners.
Just as the first vet suspected, the estimates for treating Eve were extremely costly, running as high as $7,000. Luckily, over the next month, her bones had healed a lot on their own. This meant she would only need a metal plate inserted over her leg bone, which cost $2,100.
Despite the pain and everything she was going through, Eve never stopped wagging her tail and never lost her resiliency. She is scheduled for surgery within the next month, and will be staying with a foster family in the meantime. She even has a new doggy sibling there who she has grown so attached to!
Eve is extremely sweet and has come a long way. Once she is fully recovered, she will be available for adoption. If you’d like to help dogs like Eve, you can donate to Friends to the Forlorn Pit Bull Rescue here.
