He Was Emptying Bins Of Trash Into A Garbage Truck When He Heard Helpless Meows…Ashley Maisano
William Grabill, a waste management worker in Sacramento, California, went about his usual morning routine, emptying bins of trash into the garbage truck. Everything seemed normal, until he heard something coming from the dumpster.
He was horrified to find out that they were the helpless meows of six newborn kittens who were dumped in the bin amongst tar and wood scrap. They were so tiny that they hadn’t opened their eyes yet and their umbilical cords were still attached.
It’s possible that the kittens could have been abandoned by their stray mother, but there’s also a good possibility that someone dumped them there on purpose. We’ll never know exactly how they got there, but thankfully they were found.
They were brought to the Sacramento SPCA and placed in foster care with two of their staff members who bottle-fed them and monitored their growth. Eventually, their eyes opened and they grew bigger and stronger.
The kittens are doing great, and their rescuer even came back to visit them! They named one of the kittens William in his honor. Grabill plans on adopting one of them, but none of them will be ready to be adopted until they’re two months old.
