When A Truckload of Apples Pulls Up, These Mischievous Rescue Horses Go Bonkers!

Second Chance Ranch in Washington rescues thoroughbred horses who were often raised for sporting purposes and have been victims of abuse and neglect. Additionally, they’ve begun training horses to work as therapy animals.
Just like any other hard-worker, these horses need a break once in a while. Second Chance Ranch decided that the horses should be rewarded for all that they’ve accomplished and for helping as many people as they do.

As summer comes to an end, the weather becomes cooler and the leaves start to change colors. People break out the sweaters, all things pumpkin spice, and Halloween decorations. Another great thing that autumn is known as? Apple-picking season! Although these horses can’t quite experience apple-picking like humans do, they still got to join in on the deliciousness!

The ranch decided to surprise the horses by bringing in a whole truck-load of apples! Apples make a great, healthy sweet treat for horses, and by the looks of it, they really love them!

As the truck pulled up, all of the rescue horses immediately gathered around to check it out. The horses begin to “bob” for apples out of the back of the pick-up truck. While some are cautious, most dug right in.
One of the cautious horses sniffed the apples for a while and rolled them around. “He was sure it was a joke,” staff wrote on Facebook. “[He] didn’t want to be the one to bite into a fake apple.”

The staff kept a close eye on the horses to make sure they didn’t overeat or eat too fast and choke. One of the horses, named Sarge, tried to be sneaky and hide some apples for later for himself. “He took one at a time and set it down on the ground – then got another one…I figured it out after three apples and had to take one away…it almost worked,” one of the staff workers wrote on Facebook.

I’m sure these apples made the horses’ day! And after all of their hard work, they definitely deserved them!
