Due To Hydrocephalus, He Couldn’t Walk. At 10 Weeks Old, They Gave Him Something Life-Changing

Herbie, a ten-week-old French Bulldog puppy, was born with hydrocephalus, a condition that causes fluid to build up inside the skull, which could cause head swelling, lack of balance or even blindness.

Because of this condition, Herbie is unable to stand or walk on his own. His breeder brought him to be euthanized, but thankfully someone rescued him first and brought him to Road Dogs & Rescue.

The staff at the rescue didn’t even think twice about trying to save his life. Despite his condition, they knew they couldn’t give up on this adorable furbaby. They brought him to Two Hands Four Paws, a large canine rehabilitation center in Los Angeles.

There, he was fitted with a little wheelchair and has been learning how to walk. He also does swimming and treadmill exercises to help build his strength.
In spite of his disabilities, he still acts like a normal puppy. He is sweet, playful, and scoots himself all around.

When Herbie is six months old, he’ll be eligible to have surgery to drain some of the fluid that’s on his brain. Doing so will hopefully give him a normal, long and healthy life just like many other dogs. He will likely be available for adoption once he is healthy and strong enough.
