Airport Throws Service Dog An Awesome Retirement Party After Working There For 5 Years

After serving as an employee at the Orlando International Airport for five years, service dog Gema is finally retiring. And to honor her paw-some career and achievements, the airport decided to throw her a big retirement party.

Airport employees attended the party, along with Gema’s handler, Eddie. But humans weren’t the only guests who joined in on the fun; a few other dog from the airport’s bag-sniffing squad came too!

They decorated with a giant banner that read “Happy Retirement!” and Gema sported a pretty tiara. She and the doggy guests also got to enjoy some well-deserved treats.

Now that Gema’s days in the workforce are over, she will enjoy life as a regular dog with her human Eddie. Eddie and Gema share a very strong bond and are inseparable. Not only does Eddie take great care of Gema, but Gema helps Eddie out in an amazing way.

“In darkness, she is my eyes. She’s my sister, my protection. When lonely, she lets me know I’m not,” Eddie says of his beloved K-9.

Now that she’s retired, they’ll get to spend much more free time together and will get to do many fun things. Gema definitely deserves it after all of her hard work! Way to go Gema!
