Finally an Emoji Keyboard That Celebrates Canine Diversity (And It’s CUTE)

The day has finally come where smart phone users no longer have to decide between a few measly dog emojis! UK based charity, Dogs Trust, has launched a new canine themed emoji keyboard, featuring breeds ranging from dachshunds to great danes, and all the popular breeds in between. Using pet population data, Dogs Trust compiled a list of the 23 most popular dog breeds in the UK and Ireland, with each character representing a real dog in one of their twenty rehoming shelters.

“As the UK’s largest welfare charity, we have a responsibility to ensure all are fairly treated, and represented, in both the digital and real world. While we fully support the recent updates to diversify the emoji keyboard, with nine million canines in family homes across the country, we also feel they deserve that same representation,” said Adrian Burder, CEO of Dogs Trust.

The Dogs Trust Emoji Keyboard is available for free download on Apple IOS and Google Android. iPhone users can go into their phone settings, then General > Keyboard > Keyboards, and then add a new keyboard. Users must then select the Dogs Trust Emoji Keyboard and allow full access to install it. Android users are required to open the Dog Trust Emoji app and in the app settings can select which messaging apps they would like to be able to access the keyboard from.
