How far would you go to save your pet’s life? Carl Hobi can’t imagine life without his pet ferret, Zelda.

This past December, Zelda fell ill. She would just lie around and not want to do anything, and then she slowly stopped eating her food. Hobi rushed her to the vet, where they discovered she had heart problems. She had a blockage in her heart which meant she needed a pacemaker to survive, and even then, she may not make it.

The surgery would cost Hobi $4,000, and the tiny pacemaker had to be specially ordered and the chances of it working were slim, but it was a risk Hobi was willing to take.

Hobi has two other ferrets aside from Zelda, but losing her would be a pain that he never wanted to go through.

Fortunately, the surgery was a success, and Zelda is now doing great! Although it cost Hobi $4,000, Zelda’s life is priceless, and he says he would do it again in a heartbeat…no pun intended!
