Smiley is an adorable six-year-old Labrador mix who is currently living with Agape Fosters, a pet rescue in Midwest Iowa. She has been overlooked many times because of the awkward smile that she gives, which makes her come across as aggressive looking to some people.

She also has some anxiety issues, but she’s been through hard times. She was living in a kennel in a backyard in southwest Iowa. When the family moved, they left her behind. A new family kept her for a while, but then they didn’t want her anymore either.

That’s when Diann Helmers, founder of Agape Fosters, heard that this poor dog was being given away for free and knew she had to help. Her smile may look mean, but Helmers calls it infectious because she thinks it’s very endearing.

Now Helmers is just trying to find Smiley a forever home. She thinks people see her complicated smile and judge her right away before reading her story. Until then, Helmers is fostering Smiley and taking great care of her.

If you’re interested in adopting Smiley, please contact Agape Fosters at alterupet@aol.com.
