She Was Found Dangling By Her Neck In A Storm Drain, Barely Breathing. How They Got Her Out? Watch!Ashley Maisano
It’s not every day that you receive a call like this one. The Winchendon Fire Department responded to an unusual animal rescue, one that they never expected. A one-year-old cat ended up in a storm drain in Winchendon, Massachusetts, and when she tried to get out, her head got stuck in the grate. She was dangling by her neck, and when the fire department arrived, she was barely breathing or moving.
Lieutenant Peters, Firefighter/Medic Harding, and another crew member removed the grate and tilted it upright so the cat would no longer be dangling, and could catch her breath. Once the owner arrived, he gave them dish soap so that they could use it to slide the cat’s neck out of the grate.
They applied it around the cat’s neck, and eventually they were able to set the kitty free. What could have been a very tragic story, thankfully had a happy ending. It’s unknown how long the cat had been dangling there for, but if it were any longer, the cat could have died.
The Winchendon Fire Department described it as a “feel good animal story” and praised their crew for their strong work, as do we! The cat was immediately reunited with her owner, and she is now back at home and doing well!
