She Was So Traumatized That All She Did Was Bury Her Face Against Walls. After Months Of Recovery, Look At Her Face!Ashley Maisano
This Greyhound mix, named Angel, came from a horrible past and has made an unbelievable transformation that will warm your heart! She is a sighthound, also known as a lurcher, which is a dog who hunts by sight and speed, rather than by scent and endurance as scent hounds do. PAWS Animal Rescue received a phone call from the local dog warden about a scared lurcher who was found on the road in Kilkenny, Ireland. Like many lurchers, she was dumped or let stray as no longer useful.
When she arrived at PAWS, they could see the sad look of mistreatment in her eyes that many lurchers know very well. She was emaciated, had mange and was covered in filth. But the thing that worried them the most, was that as soon as she arrived at PAWS, she went into the corner and buried her face against the wall. Any medical conditions were ruled out, and it was determined that she was just so scared and traumatized by her past, that she couldn't bare to look at her surroundings.
They named her Angel because they looked at her as a fallen angel in need of a helping hand. But she got way more than a helping hand! A week after she was found, a second lurcher was picked up and brought to PAWS. When he arrived, Angel’s whole attitude changed. The way they greeted each other made it clear that they most likely came from the same place, and could even be brother and sister since they have similar markings. The male lurcher, named Cliff, slowly helped Angel to gain people’s trust back. She followed him around and his presence helped her to be less afraid.
After months of recovery, Angel was ready to find her furever home. A couple named Michael and Theresa McGrath, who were looking for a companion for their rescue greyhound, Jaego, adopted Angel. Angel, now called Cara, is very happy and relaxed in her new furever home! I am so thankful for the dog warden who got Angel off the streets, PAWS Animal Rescue who nursed her back to health and took such great care of her, and of course her new furever family for taking her in to love her for the rest of her life!
