American Cocker Spaniel

If you are searching for a happy-go-lucky family dog, then the American Cocker Spaniel is an excellent choice. Known for possessing an upbeat personality and being loyal and obedient, the American Cocker Spaniel has everything dog owners could want in a pet. The American Cocker Spaniel originated in the United States and remains a popular breed. This breed has been a favorite of a few American presidents.

In the past, the American Cocker Spaniel was an excellent hunting dog. This breed was used for bird flushing and retrieving, but the American Cocker Spaniel is now often enjoys his role as a family dog or show dog. These dogs do not get too large in size and have an average height of 13 to 15 inches at the shoulder and weigh between 24 to 28 pounds.

The American Cocker Spaniel is a playful, sensitive pet who is truly “man’s best friend.” These dogs need a good deal of exercise, but they can contently live in any sized home. Just make sure to take them for walks and give them plenty of fun playtime outside.

This breed does not like to be left alone too often, so it is important that Cocker Spaniel owners spend enough time with these pups on a daily basis. This breed is fine with kids, but doesn’t like any atmosphere which is too rambunctious.

If you are searching for a loyal family pet, the American Cocker Spaniel is a good option. Just keep in mind that this dog will need a good amount of grooming, due to his silky coat, and a good amount of company, due to his sociable nature.
