Her Owner Abused Her Daily. So They Faked Her Death To Rescue Her…FamilyPet
A Pit bull puppy, named Lucy, sadly was abused by her owner daily in Egypt. Despite this, her owner refused to give her up, and no one knew why. One day things got even worse when her owner got so mad, he beat Lucy until she was on the brink of death. He kicked her repeatedly and possibly hit her with a brick. This left her with a broken jaw on both sides, and a broken soul.
After hearing about this awful incident, a rescue group in Cairo tried to convince Lucy’s owner to give her up, but for some reason he still refused. They then turned to a U.S. animal rescue, Special Needs Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation (SNARR), for help. Meanwhile in Egypt, Lucy was getting immediate medical attention.
They knew they had to do something to rescue this poor pup from her abusive owner, and they knew they had to think of something fast. That’s when they came up with their genius plan: “They told him [Lucy’s owner] she died and immediately put her on a plane to JFK airport,” Lauren Connelly of SNARR told The Dodo. “If they had not, she would have likely suffered more beatings and starved because she couldn’t eat with her jaw the way it was without specially mixed food.” Thankfully, plan worked! Lucy then flew from New York to Connelly’s house in Pittsburgh, and then taken to the hospital the next morning.
Not only did she have a shattered jaw, but her mouth had a bad infection. It was so bad and the smell so unbearable that you couldn’t even go near her face. Eventually, the infection subsided, and they brought her to an orthopedic specialist who rebuilt her jaw.
Lucky wore a brace so that her jaw bones could bond back together and heal the right way. Although her physical damage was being fixed, the damage of her soul was still profound. But it didn’t take long before that damage was repaired. Her foster mom met Connelly and Lucy at the vet, and that healing began. Now, Lucy has found her forever home in Flagstaff, Arizona! She is doing great and will be loved unconditionally for the rest of her life!
